Once upon a time, this would be on my Top 100 list, but that currently has 101 movies on it so… I shall not torture myself with trying to figure out which to replace. I’ve seen this at least 10 times, but it has been a while. I still love it. Granted, this movie is not for everyone. It’s cheesy af, it’s GenX af, it’s everything I hate about reality tv and daytime talk shows. It’s a statement piece, but what that statement is will depend on who you are. I struggle to find the balance between so fucking what and everything matters every day and I think this movie takes both to the extreme and sensationalizes them in a very well done way.

“Ahead of it’s time I just watched S.F.W. and was amazed at how, at least five years before the major trend of ‘reality TV’ became the in-thing, this movie satirized it, and showed it for how wrong and un-real it is. This movie scathingly commentates on the media’s ability to warp and distort truth, and to give the mundane deep meaning. Cliff Spab is a meaningless person trapped in a meaningless society that does not appreciate the horror of his ordeal and ruthlessly tries to cash in on his pain. This film is chock-full of meaning and irony, and it is simply brilliant.”
-Review on IMDB, rated movie…there was no #

“the title says it all It is one thing for a film to merely be bad, it is quite another for it to insult your intelligence…..blah blah blah…. This is, quite possibly, the single worst movie I have ever seen (Roger Ebert agrees!)…blah blah blah…Every situation seems entirely implausible. ….blah blah blah…Reese, I still think you are on top of your game, and this was ten years ago during your indie phase, so I don’t hold you accountable, just please don’t let it happen again.”
-Review on IMDB, rated movie 1/10
I think the award you have been given speaks for itself.
I haven’t actually read the book, but I should def do that!
Interesting Trivia…Originally, Cliff Spab was written to be 17 years old. However, when Stephen Dorff was cast in the role, Cliff’s age was changed to 20, Dorff’s age during the production. -This was a perfect role for Dorff, can’t even imagine someone else doing this! Get more trivia
