Day 10 of 2022

Just got my birthday present from my awesome kiddo framed and ready to go up! When I opened it I was surprised as I thought it was She-Ra but it has a sticker and authenticity doc from Flash Gordon. Then I learned that it is She-Ra and she was on Flash Gordon (dated 1979) – so super special original hand painted production Animation Cel. Super sweet 😁. I absolutely loved She-Ra and He-Man. When my kiddo was just a lil sprout I had found a DVD box set of the old cartoon so I made her sit and watch the entire thing with me. Super cheesy and super awesome 😂. Guess she kinda remembers that 😎.

My birthday was last month. It’s generally not a day I get super excited about. After so many years spent working on my birthday I gave up celebrating and it turned into just another day. My family and friends usually join me for a nice meal out but that didn’t work out this year.

This year my grandma was on her first full day home from the hospital and super crabby and in pain. My aunt and uncle came down to visit but they all got roped into a goat adventure (it began with my step-dad and uncle helping to transport a goat to the market but ended up with my mum and aunt going on a rescue mission because the four male adults who went on this trip all rode in the same truck that broke down on the way there🤣). Gotta love goats, for real they make life interesting! Adorable little trouble makers that they are. You pretty much have to expect some shit to go down whenever they are involved.

(One of my goat babies. I’m no longer a crazy goat lady but I def was while we had the farm 😂.)

Between my kiddo and my sweetheart I had a lovely birthday despite all the shenanigans, and the following weekend my mum made lasagna and that was delicious 🥰! I am truly thankful – I’m surrounded by some pretty amazing and beautiful people (and kick azz art 😁).

Movies & TV

If you haven’t watched this new Sandra Bullock movie on Netflix yet, I recommend it. Superbly done, emotionally charged and she just did such an awesome job with the role.
My Rating: 10/10 | View on IMDB

It is now the year 2022. What did the movie Soylent Green get right? This article I read today sums it up. Still one of my favorite movies (doesn’t quite make the Top 100 list, but it is super close). Check out my review here.

January Movie List: Time for a Road  Trip (view current list on IMDB). Got a movie that I should watch? Send me a message.

Gaming

A short clip of one of the very satisfying things about Zombie Army 4…

IRL

The past few days have not been pleasant when it comes to grandma. It’s a struggle not to show frustration. She’s taken a turn of the crazy kind. We spent the entire evening on Saturday discussing whether or not she was being held prisoner. She was super anxious and dead set on the idea. She doesn’t know where she is or why she is here or why her sweet granddaughter would hold her hostage like this.

The next night she thought I was her sister and we were in a motel. We went through a photo book of her grandkids and she said she didn’t know any of them. Tonight she was so restless and wandered around the house a lot. She wanted to meet the people who lived here, she couldn’t remember seeing anyone all day. This began right after the whole fam had dinner together.

I know this is all part of the dementia journey and we will get through it. It’s just so damn hard at times.
